If you are like me, you might not have grown up hearing about Juneteenth and its importance. Juneteenth marks the day when African Americans in Galveston, Texas first heard the news that they were free from slavery. This day of freedom took place on June 19, 1865. Keep reading to learn about 5 activities you can do with your children to celebrate Juneteenth!
Activity #1 - Get a book

Download this Juneteenth flag for free and encourage young children to color it. Afterward, attach it to a wooden stick, pencil, or popsicle stick. If you want to attach an image to a stick, you may need to resize it. Another option is to display it in your home or classroom as a banner
